The new cases announced Friday in country was the highest
single-day amount of cases since the start of the pandemic.
The country has reported 107,345 confirmed coronavirus cases and 1,413 related
deaths since the outbreak started, according to the Friday update by Nigeria
Centre for Disease Control.
NCDC noted that 8 more persons have died from the virus on Friday,
as the total number of successfully treated and recovered Covid-19 cases rose
to 84,535 following the discharge of 705 patients on Friday.
The health agency also said that Friday's discharges include 277 community recoveries in Lagos State, 150 in Kaduna State and 78 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.
Lagos, the nation’s COVID-19 regional epicentre, reported
713 infections, Plateau had 273 , FCT had 199, Kaduna reported 117 and Oyo confirmed 79.
Other states affected by the virus on Friday were Enugu-58, Ondo-53, Kano-49, Sokoto-43, Ogun-37, Osun-37, Nasarawa-36, Rivers-28, Benue-24, Delta-24, Niger-24, Gombe-18, Edo-15, Taraba-12, Bayelsa-10, Ekiti-9, Borno-6, Zamfara-2 and Jigawa-1.
On the 15th of January 2021, 1,867 new confirmed cases and 8
deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
Till date, 107,345 cases have been confirmed, 84,535 cases have been discharged and 1,413 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
