The total number of people who have contracted the virus in Nigeria has now risen to 112,996  out of which 98,359 people have recovered and have been discharged. While the total fatalities from the virus rose to 1,507 in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known on Monday.

Since the beginning of the outbreak in Nigeria in February, 1,270,523 samples have been tested by NCDC, out of which 112,996 were positive.

The public health institute in its daily update announced 1,430 new COVID-19 infections with 3 additional coronavirus related deaths in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

NCDC also announced the discharge of 1,131 patients from isolation centers across the country. 

The discharges today include 435 community recoveries in Lagos State and 184 community recoveries in Kaduna State managed in line with guidelines, the health agency added.

The breakdown of the newly recorded infections shows that, Lagos state recorded the highest number of confirmed infections for day, with 744 cases, this brought the total number of infections in state to 45,684 and 292 deaths recorded.

Plateau reported 100 infections, Oyo had 77 and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory and second most affected by the virus in the country recorded 75 new infections.

Other states affected by the virus on Monday include Nasarawa-74, Katsina-48, Edo-42, Kano-41, Enugu-37, Rivers-34, Ogun-33, Kwara-32, Niger-28, Ebonyi-27, Kaduna-26, Borno-12, Yobe-10, Ekiti-5 and Gombe-1.
