Two additional deaths were recorded on Tuesday, as a result of coronavirus complications raising the death toll in Nigeria to 1,160.

The Africa's most populated country, Nigeria recorded 152 new COVID-19 infections, according to an update on Tuesday night by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

With the latest update, Nigeria's COVID-19 tally of infected  people rose to 64,336, making it fifth on the list of African countries hit hardest, behind Ethiopia, Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa.

Also, there has been significant improvement in recoveries even as fears over an imminent and more devastating second wave of infections gains momentum.

NCDC reported that 264 persons were discharged from isolation centers across the country after tested negative to the COVID-19.

According to the data released by the health agency, the 152 new infections were reported from 8 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Lagos further stretched its lead on the number of infections to 22,053, about a third of the country's total after the confirmation of 93 new infections on Tuesday.

Other states with new coronavirus  infections on Tuesday includes - FCT-21, Oyo-15, Rivers-11, Bauchi-7. Kwara-2, Bayelsa-1, Edo-1 and Plateau-1.

Nigeria has so far tested 687,952 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

In summary, on the 10th of November 2020, 152 new confirmed cases and 2 deaths were recorded in Nigeria

Till date, 64,336 cases have been confirmed, 60,333 cases have been discharged and 1,160 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
