The number of COVID-19 infections exceeded 62,000 in Nigeria, as the worst pandemic in a century escalated across the nation.

Nigeria on Monday records 119 new COVID-19 cases, with 2 coronavirus related deaths in 5 states and Federal Capital Territory in the last 24 hours.

The latest update raised the total figure of confirmed cases in the country to 62,111, the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control(NCDC) announced this via it official Twitter handle.

106 COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from isolation centers, raising the number of successfully recovered patients to 57,571.

Lagos reported the highest number of cases on Monday night with 77 infections, while FCT confirmed 26 cases, Plateau had 9 cases, Edo confirmed 4 cases,  Oyo reported 2 cases and Nasarawa recorded 1 case.

Nigeria has tested 612,154 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

According to the NCDC, on On the 26th of October 2020, 119 new confirmed cases and 2 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

Till date, 62,111 cases have been confirmed, 57,571 cases have been discharged and 1,132 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
