COVID-19 cases in Nigeria Exceed 40,000 on Sunday night as the country recorded 555 new cases and 2 more deaths in 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced this via its official twitter handle on Sunday night.

Nigeria has continued to record hundreds of new COVID-19 cases daily as the total infections in the country reached 40,532. 

The figures of recoveries and discharged patients from the isolation centres also rose to  17,374 after 426 were discharged on Sunday.

A breakdown of the new cases, confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control, shows that Lagos recorded 156 new cases, while Kano confirmed 65 cases,  Ogun had 57 case, Plateau had 54 cases, Oyo reported 53 cases  and Benue confirmed 43 cases.

Other states with new cases are: FCT-30, Ondo-18, Kaduna-16, Akwa Ibom-13, Gombe-13, Rivers-12, Ekiti-9, Osun-8, Cross River-3, Borno-2, Edo-2 and Bayelsa-1. 

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has conducted about 262,579 tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.

On the 26th of July 2020, 555 new confirmed cases and 2 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
Till date, 40,532 cases have been confirmed, 17,374 cases have been discharged and 858 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
