Nigeria reported 626 new cases of coronavirus infections in the country, the new discoveries brings the number of people infected by the virus to 27,110.

This was confirmed on Thursday night by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in a tweet via its official handle.

The health agency also noted that a total of 649 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus. While reported death toll rose to 616, as 13 people were confirmed dead within 24 hours.

The new cases were recorded across 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the latest update which was announced via the NCDC official Twitter page, Lagos reported takes the lead with 193 cases of the virus, followed by FCT with 85 cases, Oyo had 41 cases and Edo confirmed 38 cases.

Kwara state confirmed 34 cases of coronavirus, Abia had 31 cases, Ogun had 29 cases, Ondo reported 28 cases, Rivers had 26 cases, Osun reported 21 casss.

While Akwa Ibom and Delta reported 18 cases each, 15 cases in Enugu, 13 cases in Kaduna,
11 cases in Plateau. Also eight cases of the virus were found in Borno, Bauchi confirmed seven cases, Adamawa had five cases, Gombe reported four cases and Sokoto reported one case.

Nigeria has tested 141,525 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

As of the time of reporting, 35 states and the FCT have recorded at least a case of the disease. Only one state, Cross River, is yet to report any case of the virus.

Till date, 27110 cases have been confirmed, 10801 cases have been discharged and 616 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
