562 new cases of the COVID-19 infections have been reported in Nigeria, as the total number of infections in the country increased to 37,225 Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), disclosed this on Monday night.

NCDC also noted that a total of 15,333 patients have now recovered from the virus and have subsequently been discharged as 228 new patients was discharged on Monday from isolation centers.

While the death toll from the virus increased by 12, raising the total number of deaths to 801

The agency in a tweet late Monday said the 562 new cases were reported in 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The spread of the virus further intensified in Abuja as the Federal Capital Territory recorded 102 new cases, followed by Lagos with 100 cases and Plateau with 52 cases.

Kwara-50, Abia-47, Kaduna-35, Benue-34, Oyo-26, Ebonyi-24, Kano-16, Niger-15, Anambra-14, Gombe-12, Edo-11, Rivers-6, Nasarawa-5, Delta-5, Borno-3, Enugu- 2, Bauchi-2 and Kebbi- 1.

Since the beginning of the outbreak in Nigeria in February, 214,228 samples have been tested by NCDC, out of which 37,225 were positive.

Till date, 37,225 cases have been confirmed, 15,333 cases have been discharged and 801 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
