Refreshed Google Play Store uses Material design language |
The new design was released to select users recently, but it is now available to all. To recall, Google Play Store is used by over two billion active users monthly to download and install apps and games. It also acts as a store-front for Movies, Music, and Books.
“Aligning with Material design language, we're introducing several user-facing updates to deliver a cleaner, more premium store that improves app discovery and accessibility for our diverse set of users,” Boris Valusek, Design Lead, Google Play, wrote in a blog post.
Rounded rectangular icons are the new standard for the Google Play Store |
Further, the Google Play Store listing page now shows important information like app rating, download size, age rating, and number of installs right at top alongside a prominent call-to-action button. The company will also be displaying the icons with rounded rectangles.
As mentioned earlier, the revamped Google Play Store is now available to all. If you aren't already seeing the new design, it will reach your Android or Chrome OS device over the next few days. The Web version of the Google Play continues to have the older design.
