Opera has announced that it will soon bring Crypto Wallet to Opera Touch for iOS following “popular demand from the Ethereum community.” Before the firm rolls out Crypto Wallet and Web 3 functionality to iOS users, it will test out the features with a limited user pool to work out any issues that present themselves.
In order to use the Early Access release before it’s shipped to everyone else, you can leave your email address with Opera who will then send you an invitation to grab the browser preview.
Explaining the impetus for building Crypto Wallet, Opera said:

“Introducing Web 3 functionalities to our iOS browser marks a further step in Opera’s plan to remove hurdles preventing mainstream Web 3 adoption.
We identified the biggest challenge to be the lack of easy-to-use solutions for crypto. Users were forced to install separate wallet apps which didn’t include full-featured browsers. Setting up such wallets was difficult and browsing the Web with a wallet app is burdensome. We removed this hurdle by integrating an easy-to-use wallet into our Android browser.
Now, we are delivering this seamless experience to iOS users.”

The firm said the next step will be for the Ethereum community to “provide relevant Dapps” which people can interact with and spend their tokens on. Unlike many popular desktop and mobile wallets, you can’t store any old cryptocurrency inside Opera’s Crypto Wallet, instead, it’s limited to Ethereum tokens and other “collectibles”.
