The International Women’s Day marked annually on March 8 is a global day to celebrate the social, economic cultural and political achievements of women. The day is powered by the collective efforts of all. Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity are what makes the International Women’s Day successful.
To commemorate the day, the Lagos State Chapter, the leading branch of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations is set to host the second edition of the STEWS (Strong Tender & Empowered Women’s Summit), themed: DREAM. ACHIEVE. CHANGE., scheduled to hold at the Function Suite, Sheraton Lagos Hotel on Friday, March 8, 2019, by 10 am.
The STEWS is high-profile talk-shop aimed at articulating and aggregating a collective voice to build momentum for gender equality, women empowerment and effective implementation of the new Sustainable Development Goals, inaugurated last year to mark the International Women’s Day annually.
This edition is focused on sharing advice and tips on how to transcend social, economic and political challenges against women. Feminists, professional women in government, academia, and corporate organisations including women’s associations, NGOs and the Media are expected to attend the Summit.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, NSIA Insurance Limited, Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, is expected to deliver the Keynote Address. Other distinguished speakers include the Chairman, Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, Lynda Onefeli, Managing Director, Hill+Knowlton Nigeria, Tokunbo George-Taylor, Founder/Chief Executive Officer, LSF PR, Bidemi Zakariyau, and Change Management and Transformation Leader, Lande Atere. The Managing Consultant, Quadrant MSL, Uche Ajene will moderate the panel discussion.
Speaking on the event, the Chairman, Lagos NIPR, Olusegun McMedal, said that STEWS is a strategic initiative by the Chapter to aggregate a collective voice to accelerate the momentum for the call for gender parity and to deepen the Institute’s feminist’s scorecard.
The former Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru, delivered the keynote address at the inaugural edition held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) last year.
This edition is supported by the WEMA Bank, Women FM 91.7, Bellanaija.com, Happenings Media and Brand Communicator.
