Alhaja Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso is
undoubtedly one of the fast-rising Islamic singers in the music industry. she is the
daughter of late Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) popular TV personality, Alhaji Rasaq Aremu Gawat, and this aptly tells where her love for the tube and
entertainment as a whole stem from.
She was pronounced the
Lagos State 'Social Secretary' by the national electoral board of ISMAN at the
just concluded election for Lagos State Chapter which held on July 30, 2015 at
Isolo area of Lagos.
The charming singer has emerged
the new 'Social Secretary' of Islamic Musician Association of Nigeria (ISMAN)
Lagos State chapter.
The election also had Alhaji
Abdul Ganiyu Abideen re-emerging the Governor for another tenure while popular
and sonorous singer, Alhaja Aminat Babalola-Balogun widely known as 'Omotayebi'
emerged the new 'Amira'-leader of the women affairs - of the ISMAN; Lagos State
chapter.
Rukayat Gawat carved a niche for
herself in the Islamic music terrain; as one of the wave-making Islamic
musicians rocking the scene at the moment.
Married and blessed with
wonderful kids, this Mass-Communication graduate of the Olabisi
Onabanjo University in Ogun State took over music scene with a hit single
entitled 'Ogbe-Okan.'
The hit song featured Alh. Abdul
Kabir Bukola Alayande otherwise known as 'Ere Asalatu,' Aminat Omotayebi and
Ustaz Saheed Ife-Araye artistically known as ‘Gbemisoke’.
The daughter of the well-loved
presenter; Aremu Gawat , focuses more on the women's world as she preaches the
ideals of a wife and generally the duties and roles of women in the Islamic
world.
This easy-going singer has
performed at several big Islamic functions and has few interesting musical
albums that include 'Imole , My father , Arinakore Aye Le,' and 'AgbokoL'Ori'
to her credit.
