Good times are again here in the troubled musicians’ body in Nigeria, the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN).
For many years, the association has been plagued by leadership crisis, which is even yet to be settled by the rival parties.
At the moment, PMAN is run by an interim National Executive Caretaker Committee headed by Pretty Okafor of the Pretty and Junior fame.
But since his assumption of office, Okafor has taken the group to higher heights by carrying out ground-breaking initiatives.
Not too long ago, he launched a biometric scheme for members to enable them have biometric cards that can be used for many functions including transactions, he partnered with banks on the idea.
Last week, PMAN was at the corporate headquarters of Airtel in Lagos to pen a deal with the telecoms giant.
The multi-billion naira contract, we learnt, covers areas of the Biometric ID Card Scheme for PMAN members and practitioners, African music films Distribution network  (both music and films) in Nigeria and globally; tracking and collection of downloads, bar-coding and encoding of all musical works coming from Nigeria.
Present at the occasion were representatives of Airtel and PMAN including Okafor, Sunny Neji, Ruggedman, Felix Duke, Zakky Adzay and others.
