Mavin Records, no doubt, is one of the respected music labels in Nigeria at the moment. The music outfit can be likened to Kennis Music in the 90s and early 2000s, when it was the power force of the entertainment industry in Africa.
If it were possible, many artistes would love to be signed to the label because of the level of growth such artistes would get by being under Mavin Records.
The Midas Touch of Don Jazzy, the head honcho of the label is one thing many artistes, both made and budding, would want to be part of.
When news filtered in some weeks ago that Glo was planning to snatch Don Jazzy from MTN as their brand ambassador, many people thought it was just one of the dust raised by celebrities to get bigger deals from their present ‘employers’. But things are clearer now.
MTN sealed a deal with Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage few weeks ago. In fact, it was contract extension the telecommunication giant signed with the two top artistes.

But last week, Glo announced the signing of Korede Bello, Di’Ja and Reekado Banks. Though details of their contracts were not revealed to the public, we learnt that it runs into some millions of Naira.
A source disclosed to First Weekly that Glo actually wanted to get Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage into its fold until their rival, MTN, stepped up their game to get the two artistes to continue with them for another year.
It was learnt that when Glo got a hint that Don Jazzy’s contract was just a month or two left, it approached him with mouth-watering offer. However, things did not finally work out well between them and the award-winning producer opted to stay with MTN.
