After his initial endorsement of a House of Reps member, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu) by Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State as his successor, the former was eventually picked on Monday December 8
at the Enugu State PDP governorship primaries conducted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in the state.
The primary election, which was attended by Governor Chime and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, was well attended as delegates from the 17 local government council areas in the state elected Ugwuanyi as the party's governorship candidate in next year's election.
Ugwuanyi was declared winner at the primary election, which was conducted by officials of the PDP as well as some BOT members of the party.
Other guber aspirants that were also in the contest were Senator Ayogu Eze, who conducted his own primary election at Filbon Hotels, Enugu, where he was declared winner.
