Things are working out well for
the incumbent Governor of Kwara State as we were reliably informed that he has
been given second term ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Close watchers of events told us
last week that his political godfather and former governor of the state,
Senator Bukola Saraki posted on his facebook page that Ahmed would be allowed
to run for a second term by the party.
“He was wooed by top members of
the PDP in the state to leave APC, but he blatantly refused and told them that nothing
would take him away from the party of his godfather. He even told them that if
Bukola did not present him for a second term of office, he would go to the
senate,” said a source.
A source in the state told us
that leaders of the party in the state and opinion leaders are also satisfied
with the leadership style of Governor Ahmed and that they reportedly told
Saraki to support him for a second term of office.
They allegedly made him realized
that Ahmed has lived up to expectation, and that he continued from where
Senator Saraki stopped in 2011.
We gathered that the people of
Kwara are satisfied with the Governor and that they believe that he did
everything within his power to develop the state in the areas of education,
healthcare, rural development, electrification amongst others.
“The Governor is an amiable
public officer, who did his best for the people. We will always support him and
I can tell you that he would win the 2015 elections. He did not just develop
the state, he made himself available to the people and Kwarans are better for
it today,” said a resident of the state, who gave his name as Alhaji Muritala.
