As attacks on Christians by violent Boko Haram Sect continue
almost unhindered in the north, the leader of the
movement for the actualisation of sovereign state of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph
Uwazuruike has called on
Igbos to leave the troubled zones in northern Nigeria. Nwazurike lamented attacks and killings of innocent worshippers at churches adding
that when such bloody
attacks happen Ndigbos are worst hit.
He also blasted the security agencies for failing to end the killings and growing
insecurity in northern part of the
country. Also speaking on the violence in
Nigeria, Pope Benedict
XVI called for an end to the killings of Christians
even as he warned against reprisal attacks from
both sides. “I appeal to those
responsible for the violence to immediately
stop the spilling of the blood of many
innocent people.” the pope stated.
Meanwhile, death toll has hit about 80 in Sunday’s multiple
attacks on three churches in Kaduna, North central
Nigeria and a gun battle between Boko Haram and security agencies in
Damaturu, Yobe state, North-east Nigeria.
