Otunba Isaac Durojaiye, the
former bodyguard and chief security officer to the late Bashorun MKO Abiola and
widely known as Otunba Gaddafi, who died last week, had several unfulfilled
dreams.
The founder of Dignified Mobile
Toilets (DMT), popular for its “Shit business is serious business” died on
Tuesday March 20th after a brief illness, he was the immediate past
vice-chairman of World Toilet Association. Durojaiye expanded a modest toilet
business, started by his father into a multi-million naira business.
His company's logo: “Shit
business is big business” became a common slogan in Lagos State .
Prior to the death of Otunba
Gadaffi, the World Bank, Switzerland, Germany and several international bodies
were trying to buy into what he was doing, and he was in the process of ending
the final stages of negotiation on the building of a bio-gas facility from
human wastes.
According to reports, the company
has just taken delivery of VIP Toilets as parts of its plans to further expand
the business and arrangements had been concluded with banks to get more money
for the business before death snatched Gadaffi away.
The socialite, who was aged 47,
did not show any sign of sickness, when he went to the office on Monday March
19, 2012. He reportedly became ill later on the same day as he has been
battling with diabetes for about three years.
“He was managing it and was given
a clean bill of health, until it suddenly turned worse on Monday and we rushed
him to the hospital. Prior to that time, he was okay, but it relapsed on Monday
only for him to die on Tuesday at 3pm,” said a family source.
In a statement released last
week, the management of DMT assured clients that the deceased's business would
continue to function despite his demise.
According to the statement signed
by the Chairman of the board of the company, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, and the
company's Secretary, Fes Eze Eke, plans are on to give the late businessman a
befitting burial.
The statement read: “The board
and management of DMT regrets to announce the demise of their founder and
Executive Vice Chairman, Isaac Durojaiye (aka Otunba Gadaffi) who passed on to
glory on March 20, 2012 in Lagos
after a brief illness.”
